A tradition in the making

“Go play outside”

These words were often spoken from Tom Comer’s booming, unforgettable voice, especially when his five children were running indoors or mentioned that they were bored. TC always expressed a deep wonder and appreciation for the great outdoors, and he shared this zeal with all who knew and loved him. He golfed with his friends, fished with his wife, skied with his kids, and sailed with his parents and sisters. He hiked with anyone that would join him for a walk, whether in his backyard, the hills of Ellicottville, the Andes, or on Mt. Everest.

But when he wasn’t escaping to play outside, Tom was diligent about working hard and giving back to his community.

He believed in the transformational power of a good values-based education. He felt that every family deserved the power to give this precious gift to their children. Tom’s own experiences as a student and parent shaped these values and led to many years of dedicated service, leadership, and giving to educational causes.

In Tom’s honor, we will gather at the TC Memorial each year to enjoy the activities and give back to the causes that Tom Comer loved most.

With this event, we hope to begin a lasting tradition that makes us grateful for Tom’s legacy, carries on his mission to bring education to others, and serves as an occasion to smile and celebrate life together.
